Chasing Dreams: I will not condemn the league for cooperating with bookmakers. Pandora’s box of gambling has long been opened.

In the NBA regular season, the Warriors narrowly defeated the Nuggets 137-131 in overtime. Xiaoba compiled some interviews with Warriors players after the game.
Reporter: You're obviously well aware of what's been going on in the league recently, with today's news about gambling - you know, the league and all sports leagues have been distancing themselves from gambling for years. Now that you have a partnership with a gambling company, do you think something like this will happen sooner or later? Also, what's your reaction to today's news?
Chasing Dreams: My reaction to this news? shock. I woke up in the morning and saw the news and went to shootaround before I could take a closer look. Everyone was talking about it when we got to the arena, but I only learned about the part involving Rozier.
Business is business, and I’m not going to sit here and condemn the league for working with bookies – that’s part of the business. That's true and I just hope everyone involved gets through this difficult time.
But things are not that simple. Even without official cooperation, the "Pandora's Box" of gambling has already been opened - in states in the United States that allow sports betting, everyone can place bets directly on their mobile phones, which has nothing to do with league cooperation. These partnerships will continue to grow, like I hope to be able to bet on NFL games directly from my phone (laughs), this is the time we live in.
The league is very good at promoting basketball. Business cooperation can make the entire "cake" bigger, benefiting everyone from owners to players. I've never heard anyone object to the pie getting bigger. The Alliance has been working with a variety of brands over the years, including beer advertising and betting companies.
I feel sorry for the people involved, but sports betting is not going away. Like Warrior is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and I'm partnered with Kia (laughs), that doesn't change anything. As more states legalize sports betting in the future, this development will not change the accessibility of gambling - our players do not have privileged accounts or passwords for any betting platform.
So this cannot be blamed on the alliance, people are responsible for their own choices. Collaboration will continue to grow without changing the current accessibility status quo.
