Ricken: Schlottbeck agrees with Dortmund 100%, and we have a very high level of trust in each other

According to the German sports1 website, Dortmund club executive Ricken responded to Schlottbeck's previous remarks that "I can't renew my sign with the club so early."

Note: Schlottbeck's contract with Dortmund is now expiring in the summer of 2027.

Ricken believes that Schlottbeck's words do not need to be over-interpreted. Ricken said: "Slottbeck is the absolute 'spiritual symbol' in the hearts of Dortmund fans, and his competitive strength is even less important. Moreover, Schlottbeck's sense of identity with the club is 100%. His focus is on recovery at present."

"Slottbeck is by no means "renewal is impossible". Now he has just returned from the team after he recovers from injury. It is obviously impossible for Dortmund to complete the renewal negotiations within a few hours. We have a very high level of trust between each other, but neither I nor other staff will announce the scattered progress in the negotiations now... (overexposure) will consume too much energy for everyone."
