Official: When fans shouted insulting slogans to Barcelona, Biba was fined 9,000 euros by the Spanish Football Association

According to the official website of Bilbao, the Discipline Committee of the Spanish Football Association imposed a fine of 9,000 euros on Athletic Bilbao for appearing insulting slogans against Barcelona. The match is the last round of the 2024/25 season.

The Royal Football Federation of Spain (RFEF) Discipline Committee has notified Athletic Bilbao that the club will face a new fine of 9,000 euros due to the recurring insulting slogans against Barcelona in the final round of La Liga in 2024/25.

Slogans such as "Puta Barca" should be considered "hate speech that incites violence" according to the criteria of the Appeal Board and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD). These remarks are not merely simple expressions of dissatisfaction or disgust, but because their literal and semantic loads go beyond the scope of criticism or sports competition and enter into the realm of inciting violence and strong exclusion of specific groups.

Athletic Bilbao Club has made these sanctions decisions aimed at preventing such incidents from happening again in the future. Both UEFA and the Spanish Football Association's disciplinary committee have imposed multiple penalties on Athletic Bilbao.

Looking forward to the 2025/26 season, the club reiterated that it will continue to firmly safeguard its goal: respect should be one of the basic principles of fans' cheering activities, and avoid any behavior that damages Athletic Bilbao's image or causes economic losses to the club.
