Grosso: I learned football concepts from Lippi, reading situations and making the right choices

Former Italian international and current Sassuolo coach Grosso accepted an exclusive interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, during which he talked about the good start to the season. In the Serie A standings, Sassuolo is temporarily ranked tenth with 13 points, and the club has high hopes for Grosso's coaching.

Do you like Sassuolo's current performance?

"I like the room for growth in the team. Especially in positive moments you need to maintain balance, correctly assess the situation and keep the goal in mind. But I don't want relegation to be a constraint: we have to be ambitious."

Is courage one of your characteristics?

"Yes, we are willing to try. I have no special rules, but we always send out three attacking players, plus two midfielders with offensive characteristics. We can change and become more conservative, but I like the current attitude."

Serie A record was once five consecutive losses, did this give you any doubts?

"Doubts are always with me, but you can't let them turn into worries, otherwise you will fall into negativity. I focus on the present. If I encounter difficulties, I will take a step back, expand my horizons, and refocus. My experience in Brescia is special, I am too impatient, but this experience taught me a lot."

Only against Naples did I lose two goals. Is this a sign of maturity?

"This is something I emphasize very much: don't be satisfied with the status quo. You can always do better and never give up on a game."

Berardi and Lauriente didn't contribute much in terms of goals and assists. Maybe that's a good thing?

"Since five substitutions are possible, communication with the players has become more important. I talked a lot with Lauriente during the training camp, he can do better, I always tell him this.
