Accused of sexual harassment! Former Saint-Etienne Chairman: No notification and no one asked questions, I can t believe the charges

Former Saint-Etienne chairman Roland Romaye has been accused of sexual harassment and gender insults, according to the Progressive Party on Wednesday. Roland Romaye, 80, was the owner and chairman of the Saint-Etienne club, and he held the position from 2004 to 2024.

Romayer was accused of "sexual harassment and gender insults" during his tenure, and these behaviors were even worsened by superior-subordinate relationships or the victims were in a vulnerable position.

As the core figure of the team, Romaye stepped down in 2024 and handed over the club to Ivan Gazidis and Canadian Kilmer Sports Venture Capital Group. Despite this, the old man is still considered innocent.

According to a former colleague, Romaye made some remarks to an external supplier's female employee that made everyone feel uncomfortable at the opening ceremony of the Green Museum. In response, the club Saint-Etienne has conducted an internal audit and all female employees have been questioned about possible misconduct in Romaye. In addition to these two formal complaints, the police also received multiple anonymous reporting materials.

In an interview with the local daily, Romaye said he was very surprised by the two charges: "No one notified me, and no one asked me for questions. I couldn't believe it."

On the other hand, the Saint-Etienne Club stated that it firmly opposed any form of violence and improper behavior and expressed that it would respect judicial procedures.
