SI: The Timberwolves are asking Edwards to study Harden in his prime to draw fouls and get more free throws

According to "Sports Illustrated" reporter Joe Nelson, Kings TV commentator Mark Jones revealed during the Kings' game against the Timberwolves on Monday that he had discussed with Timberwolves director of player development Chris Hines that the Timberwolves were asking Edwards to study James Harden in his peak period in order to get more free throw opportunities.

It has been revealed that Edwards has mastered the step-back three-pointer like James Harden, but the Timberwolves hope to see him evolve into a player who can draw more fouls through changes of pace in confrontations.

If Edwards can get free throw opportunities at the level of Harden or Alexander, his scoring data will be significantly improved. Alexander averaged 9.5 free throws per game this season, while Edwards averaged less than 6 free throws per game.

After the Western Conference Finals last season, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch expressed the hope that Edwards would improve his ability to draw fouls: "In today's league, you have to comply with the referee's penalty scale, even if it may not be in line with his preferred way of playing, but it does work."
